Planet Organics Delivers Delicious, Nutritious and Convenient
Organic Lunches for Bay Area Kids
San Francisco, Ca (March 15, 2006) — Planet Organics home
delivery, servicing Northern Californians with the broadest
selection of organic produce and groceries, today began offering organic school lunches as part of its "Healthy Kids" program.
The organic lunch program was developed in response to customer demand for convenient, healthy and organic lunches for children.
Planet Organics will initially offer three
lunch options, each including one Horizon Organic Cheese Stick,
1/2 oz. of Healthy Handfuls Koala Krackers, one cup of Santa Cruz
Organics applesauce or Horizon Organic yogurt, one piece of fruit (cut
into kid size pieces) and make-your-own peanut butter and jelly
sandwich (plastic knife and spoon included). The lunches cost
$4.99 each, and are available to all Planet Organic customers.
“My two kids love this lunch – these are their
favorite foods, so I know they’ll finish every bite!” said Larry Bearg,
CEO of Planet Organics. “As a concerned parent, I want my children
eating organic even when we pack a lunch to go. As a working parent, I
rely on the convenience of home delivery.”
According to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, “the prevalence of overweight among children aged 6 to 11
more than doubled in the past 20 years, going from 7% in 1980 to 16% in
2002. Healthy lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and physical
activity, can lower the risk of becoming overweight and developing
related diseases.”
