Eric Harr is the author of four best-selling books, a Shape magazine writer, an EMMY-nominated TV host, a professional triathlete (ranked #6 in the world his first year), a nationally-syndicated columnist-and the Founding Editorial Director of Fit & Famous, the first-ever celebrity-driven fitness magazine. He is the president of Eric Harr Omnimedia, an integrated content and commerce health/fitness media company-comprised of four segments: Publishing, Broadcast, Interactive and Events-that generate over 20 million media impressions each month.
Mr. Harr has eight years of on-air broadcast experience including appearances on the Discovery Channel, PBS, ESPN, FOX and various regional broadcasts. Mr. Harr serves as the fitness expert on CBS 5’s highly-rated “Weekend Early Edition,” where he researches topics, interviews guests and presents health/fitness news, techniques and trends as part of that live newscast. He is a member of the National Academy of Television and Sciences (NATAS) and has been nominated for two EMMY awards: "Best Host" and "Best Informational Show."
For the past three years, Mr. Harr’s weekly health column has been syndicated by Tribune Media Services-the world's leading domestic and international provider of information and entertainment products for print, electronic and on-air media. Every week, Mr. Harr’s column reaches millions of readers in major market newspapers such as the New York Daily News, the Kansas City Star and the Chicago Herald and around the world from Malaysia's largest English-speaking newspaper, The Star to the oldest-running paper in the Philippines, The Manila Times. Mr. Harr also contributes to Shape, America's #1 women's fitness magazine.
For two years, Mr. Harr hosted "The Eric Harr Show," a weekly one-hour national radio program that aired in over 200 terrestrial radio stations on the Sports Byline Network, in 177 countries and on the Armed Forces Network and Sirius Satellite radio. The one-hour documentary that he wrote, hosted and co-produced on the 2003 Hawaii Ironman Triathlon was submitted for the George Foster Peabody Award.
Mr. Harr began his career as a "puffy legal clerk" (his words) living in the U.S. Virgin Islands. After commuting to and from work every day on his mountain bike often through torrential downpours, Mr. Harr serendipitously entered The St. Croix Triathlon. He “waddled” across the line, ahead of several noted professionals, and realized he had to forego his career in international diplomacy for a shot at being a professional triathlete. Just one year after that event, Mr. Harr was ranked No. 6 in the world and won “Rookie of the Year.” Since then, he has won over 30 events around the world, including the Maizuru International Duathlon, the Cayman Islands International Triathlon and the San Diego Half-Ironman.
In 2004, Mr. Harr undertook an unprecedented athletic quest called "The Ultimate Challenge" in which he competed some of the world's most strenuous and celebrated athletic events, including the London Marathon-to raise money for charity. He was presented with the distinguished Guardian Award for his work at the Paramount Studios in Beverly Hills, along with Kim Bassinger, Pierce Brosnan, Dr. Jane Goodall and Ellen Degeneres. Mr. Harr's book "The Portable Personal Trainer: 100 Ways to Energize Your Workouts" (Random House, 2001) has received national media attention and garnered positive reviews in: Outside, GQ, Health, Bicycling, Runner’s World, Shape and Glamour. Mr. Harr's new book, "Triathlon Training in Four Hours a Week" (Rodale, 2003), is on bookshelves. He just finished a cycling book "0 to 25mph in 8 Weeks” (Rodale, 2005). His next book is “THE SHIFT: 7 Steps to Total Body Transformation.” He has been featured as an expert in national publications such as U.S. News & World Report, Glamour, Self, Cosmo, The New Yorker, Health, Bicycling, Runner’s World and Sports Illustrated.
Mr. Harr recently created Fit & Famous, a new mass-market celebrity-driven fitness magazine that presents the workout, diet, fashion and lifestyle secrets of the famously fit. The launch of this magazine is scheduled for January, 2006.
Mr. Harr is an active member of The Association of Health Care Journalists, an organization dedicated to advancing public understanding of health care issues and IDEA: The International Association of Fitness Professionals, a group comprised of the world's leading health/fitness professionals.

Mr. Harr graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., where he majored in French literature.
He is married to his high-school sweetheart, Alexandra Stretton. They live in Marin County, Calif. and in Menton, France with their one-year old daughter, Vivienne.
